Where is my model number?
Select your appliance type below to see exactly where the rating plate is located. The model number on that plate is the only reliable way to confirm a part will fit.
Why the model number matters
Two dryers that look identical off the floor can use different heating elements. The model number — not the brand or the visual appearance — determines which parts fit. Always verify it before ordering. Ordering the wrong part is the most common reason for a return.
Select your appliance type:
Rating plate location — Front-load washer
Rating plate is on the door frame or door opening rim, visible when door is open
Finding your washer model number
For front-load and top-load washers. Usually takes under a minute.
The rating plate is nearly always on the inside of the door frame — the rim you can see once the door swings open. Look at the inner edge of the door opening, not on the door itself.
It will say “Model:” followed by an alphanumeric code, and “Serial:” below it. You need the Model number only — not the serial number.
Model numbers include both letters and numbers with no spaces — for example WFW5000DW1. The suffix digits at the end matter — they can indicate a production revision that uses a different part.
Enter it in the search bar above. If you can’t find results, try removing the last one or two characters (the revision suffix) — the base model may cover your unit.
Example Whirlpool washer model number:
WFW5000DW1
Rating plate location — Refrigerator
Most commonly on the left inner wall of the fresh food compartment, upper area
Finding your refrigerator model number
Applies to top-freezer, bottom-freezer, French-door, and side-by-side models.
The rating plate is most often on the upper-left interior wall, about eye level. Some models have it on the ceiling of the compartment or behind the crisper drawers.
Pull out the drawers — some Samsung and LG models place the label on the rear wall behind them. A flashlight helps.
GE example: GSS25GSHSS. Samsung example: RF28R7351SR/AA. Copy it exactly.
Example GE refrigerator model number:
GSS25GSHSS
Rating plate location — Dryer
Inside the door opening, on the door frame rim — visible when door is open
Finding your dryer model number
Look on the inner rim of the door frame — the flat edge you see when the door is fully open. On most dryers it’s on the left side or top of this frame.
Some gas dryers have the rating plate on the rear of the unit. You may need to pull the dryer away from the wall slightly to read it.
Whirlpool example: WED5000DW1. The digits at the end indicate the production revision — include them.
Example Whirlpool dryer model number:
WED5000DW1
Rating plate location — Dishwasher
On the inner edge of the door, visible when door is open and lowered
Finding your dishwasher model number
Lower the door flat. The rating plate is almost always on the inner edge of the door — specifically the left side edge or along the top inner edge.
Bosch models often have the plate on the top of the door interior. Whirlpool and KitchenAid typically have it on the left edge facing you when the door is open.
Bosch example: SHX68T55UC/07. Include any suffix after the slash.
Example Bosch dishwasher model number:
SHX68T55UC/07
Rating plate location — Range / Oven
Usually in the storage drawer at the bottom, or on the rear left of the range
Finding your range or oven model number
Pull out the bottom drawer fully. The rating plate is typically on the front-left frame that’s exposed when the drawer is removed, or on the inside of the drawer itself.
On some ranges, particularly slide-in models, the plate is on the rear panel. You’ll need to pull the range out from the wall to see it safely. Disconnect power first.
Some models have the label inside the oven door frame, visible when the door is open. GE example: JB655SKSS.
Example GE range model number:
JB655SKSS
Rating plate location — Microwave
Inside the door cavity, usually on the left side wall or ceiling of the interior
Finding your microwave model number
Look inside the cavity — on the left or right interior wall, or on the ceiling of the cooking area. The label is usually near the door frame.
The label is typically inside the door on the left wall. GE Spacemaker and Whirlpool OTR models follow this pattern consistently.
Example: WMH31017FS0.
Example Whirlpool OTR microwave model number:
WMH31017FS0
